 Breaffy Through the Ages

Listen to the Voki to learn about the tasks this week!

Task 1- Exploring Google Maps and taking photographs

Your first task is to take a virtual tour of Breaffy village using google maps and your class laptops. 

Can you find any buildings you recognise? 

   

  Explore for yourself!

Comment below telling me what buildings you can see!

In groups, we will now explore the village for ourselves.

Each group will have a camera and must locate and photograph any buildings discovered in google maps. 

Requirements for photography: 

-Everyone in the group takes at least one photograph.

-Important buildings should be captured from different angles.

-Old ruins may also be photographed.

-Groups must photograph at least five buildings/sites/ruins.

-Hold camera steady when taking photo.

-Ensure no people are obscuring the photo.
-Take your time.

-Switch camera off when not in use to save battery.

These buildings could include the church, the school, the football pitch and the post office.

Task Two - Making a Photo Story

We will now use our photos from task one to help make photo stories. We will also be using old photos of buildings in Breaffy.

Check out this example of a photo story. This will give each group an idea of what we will be creating with our photos.

Key Questions to remember when creating your Photo Story:

What buildings will I include?
Has this building changed over time?
Can I find any pictures on the resources page of this building from years ago?
Has any building moved?
Are there any new buildings?
Why has some buildings changed?
How is Breaffy different?

Requirements for your photo story:

-Keep your presentation on topic.

Choose your images carefully.

Don't make it too long (3mins approx).

-Include photos you took and photos from years gone by.

-Keep your narration clear. 

-Think about whether you want to add audio, text or both.

-Save your work as often as you can!
